Why don't you try to find some legit Drag forums and strike up a chat with people who may know the industry. Research clubs in your area and make time to go visit (with some friends). Once you are there, maybe you can ask some of the staff if they know anyone you can speak with or etc. Just look at this like you would any other interest.
