Why do Indigenous Australians have a worse education than the Non-Indigenous?

I'm doing some research on Indigenous Australians. There are many information about how Indigenous Australians receive worse education, have lower literacy, lower number of school years etc. I'm just wondering, why is this so? Is it because of discrimination? Or perhaps access to education? Or maybe education is too expensive for some poor Indigenous? Does anyone out there have the answer?
